Important Dates

Hello ECU Community,

It has been quite a year of changes, excitement and uncertainty. Before anything else, we at Media Resources Centre would like to thank everyone for their support and understanding throughout this semester. Finally, we are winding down and getting ready for the Winter Break, and for some of us are already preparing for the Spring Semester.

But before we close our gates for the year, here are some important dates:

  • December 3 - Last day of class.
  • December 12 - Regular access to equipment ends.
  • December 15-17 - Day loans only. Limited access for documenting work.
  • December 17 - All equipment are due back.
  • December 18 - Equipment access ends for students. Resumes on first day of classes, January 12.
  • December 23-January 1 - University closed for the Winter Break.
  • January 2 - University re-opens.
  • January 12 - First day of classes. Student access resumes.

Just a reminder, no equipment access over the Winter Break. See Policy Agreement.

The Media Resources Centre provides the Emily Carr community with equipment for media-based projects, class workshops, art documentation and exhibitions.

Students taking regular credit courses, staff and faculty may borrow from a large selection of analog and digital audio, video and photo equipment. A completed current Borrower's Policy Agreement is required to access equipment. See the Equipment List section to see what you have access to.

In addition to making equipment bookings and reservations, the technicians at Media Resources can offer suggestions, provide primary usage information, and basic troubleshoot equipment issues.

Media Resources Centre is closed on weekends, statutory holidays and days when campus is closed.

Having issues with the computer? Projector won't connect? Speakers not working?

CTS (Collaborative Technologies Support) offers immediate support for in-classroom/on-campus AV systems and for the Video Conference Carts.

To contact CTS:

  • Use any of the black Emily Carr phones in the hallways and dial the CTS hotkey,
  • Call (604) 630-4559 using your phone.
  • Report an issue if something is not working.
  • Request an orientation in advance.

The IT Service Desk provides a single point of contact for students, staff, administrators and faculty for most of your IT questions and needs.

University members can report an IT issue or submit a service request from our catalogue (sign-in required).
