Using Teams for teaching and learning

Teams

Teams is a video-conferencing software with built in tools and features like screen sharing, automatic transcription, break-out rooms and more. It also functions as an asynchronous messaging app outside of meetings and classes. All ECU employees and students have access to the Teams apps on their laptop and phone to use for meetings or online synchronous course delivery.

  • Schedule and host video-conferences, meetings and classes
  • Connect using your browser or Teams app on your computer or phone, or calling in with your phone (audio only)
  • Share your screen, audio and video
  • Record meetings to your computer or to the cloud
  • Add live automatic transcription
  • Create Breakout rooms for group discussions
  • Share a live whiteboard

ECU is using Microsoft's Canadian data residency, meaning registration information, cloud recordings and connection metadata is stored on servers in Canada. However, when connecting with clients outside of Canada data can be tracked and collected by servers abroad.
